Empire State Greenhouses proudly welcomes Nick Sangermano to its Advisory Board. Mr. Sangermano is a sustainability and renewables financial expert who brings extensive and in-depth experience to the team. As a corporate and project finance specialist, Mr. Sangermano has raised over $3 Billion of capital for opportunities in solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, energy efficiency, and waste-to-value.

Other prominent members of the board include George Pataki, former Governor of New York State, co-founder and CEO of the Pataki-Cahill Group; Peter R. Smith, Managing Director of the Pataki-Cahill Group, and former President and CEO of New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA); Marion A. Terenzio, President of the State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill (SUNY Cobleskill); and Said Armutcuoglu, Senior Advisor at LSH Partners and international investment banking expert.

Mr. Sangermano previously served as Managing Director at Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors, successfully leading several landmark renewables transactions in North America. Prior to Rubicon, Mr. Sangermano was head of Corporate & Private Placements at CohnReznick Capital based in New York, where he led numerous renewables deals worldwide.  Mr. Sangermano was also a Managing Director at Ambata Capital Partners, a prominent family office, where he established an international sustainability and Environmental Social Governance advisory practice and led transactions for clients in a dozen countries. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer and a founding senior team member at Hudson Clean Energy Partners, a private equity firm, where he helped establish and manage their inaugural $1 billion fund. He joined Hudson from Credit Suisse, where he was a director in the Investment Banking group.

Growing up in farm country along Canada’s St. Clair River, Mr. Sangermano was acutely aware of the damage that agriculture and other industries can cause to water and the environment.

He is a passionate advocate for sustainability and Environment Social Governance practices. He has served as a member of the Bloomberg New Energy Pioneer Award selection committee, an advisor to the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), a member of the Waterkeeper Alliance Leadership Circle, and the Advisory Board for the Colorado School of Mines’ Payne Institute. Formerly, he served on the board of directors of Riverkeeper. Mr. Sangermano is an industry thought leader, a frequent conference speaker and has appeared in several industry publications and on Bloomberg TV.

Mr. Sangermano served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an officer and pilot. He received an MBA from McGill University and Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of Western Ontario.
